HERITAGE MATIES (MAROON SOLE)

Our maroon-soled Veldskoen shoe pays homage to one of South Africa’s oldest educational institutions, Stellenbosch University.

The Matie is the nickname for students of Stellenbosch University which came from the Afrikaans colloquialism maat (mate or friend), originally used by the students of the University of Cape Town’s precursor, the South African College.

A purchase with a purpose:

Five percent of all Heritage Matie sales are donated to Bridge the Gap, the University of Stellenbosch’s longstanding initiative to provide food security and financial aid to students in need.
